Cook Island Information

    There Is only 18,000 people that live in the cook islands. It also only includes about 92 square

miles of land. The capital of the cook islands is Avarua. They have their own language but many of them use English and Maori. The cook islands are very close to New Zealand, and they are also in the pacific equator. The cook islands have 15 islands in total. The South islands are formed from volcanoes, have rich, fertile soil and rainforests. The Cook Islands have a wet rainy season from December to March, followed by a dry season. Tropical storms are common.  100 thousand tourist visit the cook islands every year which is a pretty big amount of people for a small island. The currency used on Cook Islands is the New Zealand Dollar. In New Zealand we have normal pets like cats, dogs, birds and mice but in the cook islands they can have pets like pigs, goats and bulls. The favourite sport in the cook islands is rugby and is followed by soccer and cricket.

At 658 m Te Manga is the highest mountain in Cook Islands.
